Stanley (constituency)

Stanley is a constituency of the Legislative Assembly of the Falkland Islands. It is one of two constituencies in the Falkland Islands, the other being Camp. It comprises the city of Stanley and its immediate surrounding area.

The constituency elects five of the ten members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) using plurality-at-large voting, also known as block voting. This means that each voter can vote for up to five candidates, and the five candidates with the most votes are elected.

Geographically, Stanley constituency covers the area defined by the Stanley Common, encompassing the city of Stanley, the airport, and nearby settlements.

Representation from Stanley in the Legislative Assembly has been continuous since the establishment of the body. Historically, Stanley held a greater number of seats compared to Camp, reflecting its larger population. This allocation has been adjusted over time to more accurately reflect the demographic balance of the islands.
