Standing Tall (Kym Marsh album)

Standing Tall is the debut studio album by English singer and actress Kym Marsh, released on June 23, 2003, by Island Records. Marsh had risen to prominence as a member of the pop group Hear'Say, formed through the reality television show Popstars. Following her departure from Hear'Say in 2002, she embarked on a solo career.

The album's title, Standing Tall, reflected Marsh's determination to establish herself independently after the high-profile split from her former band. The album showcased a pop-R&B sound, moving away from the pure pop style of Hear'Say.

Standing Tall produced three singles: "Cry," "Come on Over," and "Sentimental." "Cry" was the lead single and became a top 3 hit in the UK Singles Chart. "Come on Over" reached the top 10, and "Sentimental" achieved moderate success.

The album itself reached number 9 in the UK Albums Chart. While it did not achieve the commercial success of Hear'Say's debut album, Standing Tall solidified Marsh's position as a solo artist and allowed her to demonstrate her vocal abilities and develop her own musical style.

Despite the initial success, Marsh's solo music career eventually took a backseat to her acting career, most notably her long-running role as Michelle Connor in the British soap opera Coronation Street.
