Stadionul Ion Oblemenco (1967)

Stadionul Ion Oblemenco was a multi-purpose stadium in Craiova, Romania. It was primarily used for football matches and was the home ground of Universitatea Craiova. The stadium was named after Ion Oblemenco, a legendary player and coach of the club.

Opened in 1967, the stadium had a capacity of approximately 25,252 spectators. Over the years, it underwent several renovations and improvements to meet the evolving standards for football venues.

The Stadionul Ion Oblemenco hosted numerous important matches, including domestic league games, Romanian Cup finals, and European club competitions. It was known for its passionate atmosphere, generated by the enthusiastic supporters of Universitatea Craiova.

The stadium was demolished in 2015 to make way for a new, modern stadium with the same name. The new Stadionul Ion Oblemenco was opened in 2017. The original stadium remains a significant part of the history and identity of Universitatea Craiova and Romanian football.
