Muthu (film)

Muthu is a 1995 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film directed by K. S. Ravikumar. It stars Rajinikanth and Meena in the lead roles, with Sarath Babu, Raghuvaran, and Vadivelu playing supporting roles. The film revolves around Muthu (Rajinikanth), a loyal servant, and his complicated relationship with his master's family, including Ranganayaki (Meena), whom he is initially assigned to protect.

The film is known for its themes of loyalty, class differences, and love. It features music composed by A. R. Rahman. Muthu was a significant commercial success, particularly in Japan, where it was dubbed and released in 1998 under the title Muthu Odoru Maharaja (ムトゥ 踊るマハラジャ, meaning Muthu, the Dancing Maharaja). Its success in Japan helped to popularize Indian cinema in the country. The film was remade in Kannada as Gaja (2008).
