Sochocin

Sochocin is a town in Płońsk County, Masovian Voivodeship, in east-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Sochocin. It lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) north-east of Płońsk and 64 km (40 mi) north-west of Warsaw.

The town has a population of approximately 1,900 (as of 2023 estimates; population figures vary between sources).

Historically, Sochocin received town rights in 1417, granted by Duke Janusz I of Warsaw. These rights were later lost, and Sochocin was re-granted town status in 1950.

The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and small businesses.

Key features of Sochocin include the Roman Catholic parish church, historical buildings reflecting its long history, and its location within the broader Masovian countryside. The town is a local center for services and administration for the surrounding rural areas within the Gmina Sochocin.
