NlaIII

NlaIII is a Type II restriction endonuclease enzyme isolated from Neisseria lactamica. It recognizes the palindromic DNA sequence 5'-CATG-3' and cleaves it between the C and A residues, resulting in 5'-protruding (overhanging) ends. The recognition site is frequently written as 5'/3'-CATG^. The caret (^) indicates the cleavage position. NlaIII requires specific buffer conditions and incubation temperatures for optimal activity. It is commonly used in molecular biology techniques such as DNA cloning, Southern blotting, and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis.
