Anthony Silva (politician)

Anthony Silva (born October 16, 1975) is an American politician who served as the 77th Mayor of Stockton, California from 2013 to 2017.

Silva was born and raised in Stockton. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended San Joaquin Delta College. Before entering politics, Silva worked in the private sector and was involved in youth programs.

In 2012, he ran for mayor of Stockton against incumbent Ann Johnston. Silva's campaign focused on improving the city's economy, public safety, and education system. He defeated Johnston in the November 2012 election and took office in January 2013.

During his term as mayor, Stockton emerged from bankruptcy and saw improvements in its economy. Silva also focused on reducing crime and improving the city's infrastructure.

However, Silva's tenure was also marked by controversy. In 2016, he was indicted on felony charges related to alleged misuse of public funds and conflicts of interest related to youth camps. He was ultimately acquitted of the charges in 2018.

In 2016, Silva ran for re-election but was defeated by Michael Tubbs. After leaving office, Silva remained in Stockton. He has since been involved in various business ventures.
