Abra Lee
Abra Lee is an American horticulturist, historian, and storyteller specializing in Black garden history and Southern foodways. She is known for her work in preserving and promoting the contributions of African Americans to horticulture and agriculture.
Lee earned a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture from Auburn University and a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University. She has held roles in various horticultural institutions, including as a county extension agent for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.
Lee is the founder of Conquer the Soil, an organization and platform dedicated to sharing the stories of Black agricultural pioneers and celebrating the legacy of Black farmers and gardeners. Through Conquer the Soil, she gives lectures, leads tours, and uses social media to educate the public about the often-overlooked history of Black people's contributions to the landscape and food systems of the United States.
Her work has been recognized through various awards and accolades, and she is a sought-after speaker and consultant on topics related to horticulture, history, and cultural heritage. Lee is committed to ensuring that the stories of Black horticulturalists are preserved and shared for generations to come.
