Sleeping Giant (film)

Sleeping Giant is a 2015 Canadian coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Andrew Cividino. The film explores themes of friendship, boredom, and the loss of innocence during a summer in cottage country on the shores of Lake Superior, near Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The story follows three teenage boys: Adam, Riley, and Nate. Adam is spending the summer at his parents' cottage, while Riley and Nate are local year-round residents. Their initially carefree summer quickly descends into reckless behaviour and risky challenges as they compete for dominance and struggle with their identities.

Sleeping Giant premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Canadian First Feature Film. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its realistic depiction of adolescence and the performances of the young actors. The film was also nominated for several Canadian Screen Awards, including Best Motion Picture and Best Director.
