Siya Khoh
Siya Kolisi is a South African professional rugby union player who currently captains the South African national team, the Springboks. He primarily plays as a flanker.
Born in Zwide, a township outside of Port Elizabeth, Kolisi rose through the ranks of South African rugby, showcasing significant talent and leadership potential from a young age. He made his debut for Western Province in 2011 and the Stormers in Super Rugby in 2012.
Kolisi made his Springbok debut in 2013. In 2018, he was appointed captain of the Springboks, becoming the first black captain in the team's history.
Under his captaincy, South Africa won the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, defeating England in the final. This victory was particularly significant for South Africa, representing a unifying moment for the nation. Kolisi also captained the Springboks to victory in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, making them only the second team in history to win four Rugby World Cup titles.
Kolisi's leadership extends beyond the rugby field. He is actively involved in various charitable initiatives aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged communities in South Africa. He is widely regarded as an inspirational figure and a role model for many aspiring athletes. After the 2023 Rugby World Cup, he moved to France to play for Racing 92.
