Sir John Lade, 1st Baronet (1st creation)
Sir John Lade, 1st Baronet (1st creation) (c. 1730 – 1799) was a British brewer and politician. He was created a baronet, of Newtimber Place in the County of Sussex, on May 11, 1758.
Lade inherited a large fortune from his father, also named John Lade, who was a successful London brewer. This wealth allowed him to pursue a life of leisure and politics.
He served as Member of Parliament for Camelford from 1768 to 1774 and for Southwark from 1784 to 1790. His political affiliations were generally aligned with the government of the day.
Lade was known for his enthusiasm for horseracing and was a prominent figure in the sporting world of his time. He owned racehorses and was a frequent attendee at racing events.
He married Elizabeth Thrale, daughter of Hester Thrale (later Hester Piozzi) and Henry Thrale. However, they had no children. Upon his death in 1799, the baronetcy became extinct. His widow subsequently remarried Gabriel Mario Piozzi, the second husband of her mother, Hester Thrale.
