Shawn Wooden (politician)
Shawn Wooden is an American politician and lawyer from Connecticut. He served as the 82nd State Treasurer of Connecticut from 2019 to 2023. As State Treasurer, he was responsible for managing the state's pension funds and overseeing its debt management.
Wooden was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. He attended Trinity College and Fordham University School of Law. Prior to becoming State Treasurer, he practiced law for over 20 years, focusing on public finance and municipal law. He also served as President of the Hartford City Council.
During his tenure as State Treasurer, Wooden focused on initiatives such as increasing investment in Connecticut businesses and promoting financial literacy. He also prioritized addressing climate change through responsible investment strategies.
Wooden unsuccessfully sought re-election in 2022, losing to Erick Russell. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
