Louis Nix

Louis Nix III (born July 12, 1992, died February 27, 2021) was an American professional football player who was a defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL).

Nix played college football for the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2010 to 2013. At Notre Dame, he was a prominent player known for his large size, strength, and impact on the defensive line. He earned the nickname "Irish Chocolate" due to his imposing physique and surprising athleticism. Nix helped lead the Fighting Irish to an undefeated regular season in 2012 and an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game.

He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. However, his NFL career was ultimately limited due to injuries, including a knee injury sustained during his final season at Notre Dame and subsequent injuries after being drafted. He was released by the Texans before playing a regular-season game. He later signed with the New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Jacksonville Jaguars, but did not appear in any regular-season games for these teams either.

Following his NFL career, Nix faced various challenges, including financial difficulties and personal hardships. He remained a popular figure among Notre Dame fans. His death in 2021, caused by a car accident, was widely mourned.
