Shangani Patrol (film)

Shangani Patrol is a 1970 historical war film directed by David Millin. It is based on the real-life Shangani Patrol incident of 1893, during the First Matabele War in Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe). The film depicts the final days of a small unit of the British South Africa Company police, led by Major Allan Wilson, as they pursued King Lobengula, the leader of the Matabele people, in an attempt to capture him and end the war. The patrol was ambushed and wiped out by a significantly larger Matabele force. The film portrays the bravery and determination of the patrol members in the face of overwhelming odds.
