Charles Davies (Tasmanian politician)

Charles Davies (1847 – 1937) was an Australian politician who served in the Tasmanian House of Assembly.

Davies was born in England and emigrated to Tasmania as a young man. He established himself as a successful businessman and was involved in various community organisations.

He represented the electorate of Fingal in the House of Assembly from 1899 to 1903, and then again from 1909 to 1925. During his time in parliament, he was a strong advocate for agricultural interests and regional development. He served as Speaker of the House of Assembly from 1913 to 1914.

Davies was knighted in 1920 for his public service. He retired from parliament in 1925 and died in 1937. His contributions were primarily focused on representing rural constituencies and supporting legislative initiatives impacting Tasmanian agriculture and regional economies.
