James Paul (conductor)

James Paul is an American orchestral conductor. He is known for his interpretations of a broad range of repertoire, and his commitment to music education and community engagement. He has held music director positions with several orchestras in the United States and Europe.

Paul has served as Music Director of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra since 1998. Prior to that, he held positions with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Oregon Coast Music Festival. He has guest conducted with numerous orchestras around the world, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, and the Houston Symphony.
