Set (cards)
Set, in the context of the card game SET, refers to a collection of three cards satisfying specific mathematical properties. A SET is a group of three cards where, for each of the four attributes (color, number, shape, and shading), the attribute is either the same on all three cards or different on all three cards.
A valid SET requires that for each attribute, one of the following conditions must hold:
- All three cards have the same attribute. For example, all three cards are red, or all three cards have two symbols.
- All three cards have different attributes. For example, one card is red, one is green, and one is purple.
If even one attribute violates these conditions across the three cards, the cards do not form a SET.
The goal of the SET card game is for players to identify SETs within a displayed grid of cards as quickly as possible. The game continues until no more SETs are visible or until the deck of cards is exhausted.
