John Thomson (banker)

John Thomson (1837-1914) was a Scottish-American banker and financier. He served as the president of the First National Bank of the City of New York from 1877 to 1908. He was known for his conservative banking practices and his strong stance against speculative investments. Thomson played a significant role in stabilizing the American financial system during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was also involved in various philanthropic activities.
