Sean McDermott (basketball)

Sean McDermott is an American college basketball coach. He is currently the head coach of the Ball State Cardinals men's basketball team, a position he has held since the 2023-24 season.

Prior to Ball State, McDermott served as an assistant coach at various programs, including Ohio State University under head coach Thad Matta, Xavier University under head coach Chris Mack, and Butler University under head coach Thad Matta. He gained a reputation as a strong recruiter and developer of talent.

McDermott played college basketball at the University of Evansville from 1995 to 1999, where he was a four-year letterwinner. He earned his bachelor's degree in marketing from Evansville in 1999.
