Joe Volpe

Joe Volpe is a former American businessman and sports executive. He is best known for his tenure as the President and General Manager of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1989 to 2003.

During his time with the Rangers, Volpe oversaw a period of significant change and, ultimately, success for the franchise. He was instrumental in acquiring key players, including Mark Messier, who captained the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup victory in 54 years in 1994.

Volpe's management style was often described as hands-on and demanding. While credited with the 1994 Stanley Cup win, his tenure also saw periods of controversy and criticism, particularly regarding player personnel decisions and the team's performance in subsequent seasons. Following his departure from the Rangers, Volpe has remained relatively private.
