Fish (singer)

Derek William Dick (born 25 April 1958), best known by his stage name Fish, is a Scottish singer, songwriter, musician and actor. He achieved prominence as the lead singer and lyricist of the progressive rock band Marillion from 1981 until 1988.

During his time with Marillion, Fish became known for his theatrical stage presence, distinctive baritone voice, and allegorical lyrics, often drawing inspiration from literature, history, and social commentary. He contributed to the band's most successful albums, including Script for a Jester's Tear, Fugazi, Misplaced Childhood, and Clutching at Straws.

Following his departure from Marillion in 1988, Fish embarked on a solo career, releasing albums such as Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors, Internal Exile, Suits, Raingods with Zippos, and 13th Star. While his solo work retained elements of progressive rock, it also explored other genres, including hard rock and folk.
