Seán Barrett (politician)
Seán Barrett (born 5 June 1944) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dún Laoghaire constituency from 1981 to 2002, and again from 2007 to 2011.
Barrett was educated at Blackrock College and University College Dublin. Before entering politics, he worked as a lecturer in Economics at Trinity College Dublin.
During his time in the Dáil, Barrett served on various committees, including the Public Accounts Committee and the Committee on Finance and the Public Service. He held positions as Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise and Employment (1994-1997) and Minister of State at the Department of Foreign Affairs (2011).
He lost his seat in the 2002 general election but regained it in 2007. He did not contest the 2011 general election.
