Scar (The Lion King)

Scar, born Taka, is the primary antagonist in Disney's 1994 animated feature film The Lion King. He is the younger brother of Mufasa, the rightful king of the Pride Lands, and uncle to Simba.

Scar is depicted as cunning, intelligent, and envious of his brother's power and position. He harbors a deep-seated resentment towards Mufasa and Simba, driving his ambition to usurp the throne. He orchestrates Mufasa's death by luring him and Simba into a gorge where a stampede of wildebeest occurs, ultimately leading to Mufasa being trampled. Scar then manipulates Simba into believing he was responsible for his father's death, convincing him to flee the Pride Lands.

With Simba gone, Scar claims the throne, allowing a pack of hyenas, whom he had previously allied with, to take over the Pride Lands. His reign is characterized by neglect, mismanagement, and ecological devastation, leading to widespread famine and suffering amongst the Pride Lands' inhabitants.

Scar's defining features include his dark mane, a scar over his left eye (the origin of which is implied to be from a prior altercation), and his sardonic wit. He is voiced by Jeremy Irons in the original animated film.

Scar's reign ends when Simba returns as an adult to challenge him. During their final confrontation, Scar reveals his role in Mufasa's death. A battle ensues, and Scar is eventually defeated and killed by the hyenas he betrayed.

Scar represents the dangers of unchecked ambition, jealousy, and the abuse of power. He is considered one of Disney's most iconic and memorable villains.
