SS Alesia

The SS Alesia was a British passenger and cargo steamship built in 1911 for the Anchor Line, a subsidiary of Cunard. She served primarily on the Glasgow to New York route. During World War I, she was requisitioned by the British government and served as a troop transport and later as an armed merchant cruiser. After the war, she returned to commercial service until being sold to Greek owners in 1926 and renamed Themistocles. Her service continued under various owners and names before ultimately being scrapped in Italy in the 1950s. She is notable for her service in both peace and war and her relatively long operational life.
