Tommy Gainey
Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey (born August 13, 1975) is an American professional golfer. He is known for wearing two gloves while playing, a practice unusual in professional golf.
Gainey's path to professional golf was unconventional. Before turning pro in 2007, he worked at a PPG Industries paint plant in South Carolina for nearly a decade. He gained notoriety through his participation in the Golf Channel's reality television series The Big Break, appearing on The Big Break VII: Reunion and The Big Break X: Mississippi. He won the latter, which earned him entry into several Nationwide Tour (now Korn Ferry Tour) events.
Gainey earned his PGA Tour card for the 2008 season through qualifying school. He has bounced between the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour throughout his career.
His most significant professional victory came at the McGladrey Classic in 2012, marking his sole PGA Tour win to date. He has also achieved multiple victories on the Korn Ferry Tour, solidifying his position as a seasoned professional.
Beyond his on-course performance, Gainey is recognized for his blue-collar background and relatability to everyday golf fans. His nickname, "Two Gloves," is instantly recognizable and contributes to his popularity.
