SM U-105

SM U-105 was a German Type IXB U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II.

Commissioned on July 6, 1940, under the command of Kapitänleutnant Georg-Wilhelm Schulz, U-105 conducted ten war patrols in the Atlantic Ocean. She sank a total of 22 ships totaling 131,409 gross register tons (GRT), and damaged five others totaling 36,395 GRT, including a warship, HMS Salopian.

U-105 primarily operated in the North Atlantic, targeting Allied merchant shipping. She was notably involved in convoy attacks and also operated independently.

Kapitänleutnant Erich Hosda took command of U-105 in October 1941 and remained in command until she was sunk.

On June 2, 1943, U-105 was sunk in the mid-Atlantic south-west of Dakar, Senegal, in position 13°00′N 17°39′W by depth charges from the British sloop HMS Plantain and the French corvette L'Aconit. All 53 crew members were lost.
