Michael Parker (bishop)
Michael Parker (born 1951) is a retired bishop in the Anglican Church of Canada. He served as the Bishop of the Anglican Military Ordinariate from 2007 to 2019 and as Bishop Ordinary to the Canadian Forces.
Parker was ordained a deacon in 1983 and a priest in 1984. Prior to his consecration as bishop, he served in various parishes within the Anglican Church of Canada, including roles as a parish priest and military chaplain. He held the rank of Brigadier-General within the Canadian Forces Reserves.
As Bishop Ordinary, Parker was responsible for the pastoral care of Anglican military personnel and their families both within Canada and deployed overseas. His ministry involved providing spiritual guidance, support, and leadership to Anglicans serving in the armed forces. He advocated for their needs within the church and the military hierarchy.
Parker holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Divinity degree, and a Doctor of Ministry degree. His theological focus includes military ethics and pastoral care in challenging environments. Since his retirement, he has remained active within the Anglican community and continues to contribute to discussions surrounding faith and military service.
