SEPTA Route 50 (trolley)

SEPTA Route 50 is a trolley line operated by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As one of SEPTA's five remaining "Subway-Surface" trolley lines, Route 50 operates partially underground in a subway tunnel shared with the other four lines (Routes 10, 11, 13, and 36) and then continues above ground to its outer terminus.

The Route 50 trolley originates at 13th Street Station, beneath Market Street in Center City Philadelphia. From there, it travels westward through the subway tunnel, making stops at underground stations including City Hall, 15th Street, 19th Street, 22nd Street, 30th Street, 33rd Street, and 36th Street. At the 40th Street Portal, located at 40th Street and Baltimore Avenue, the trolleys emerge from the tunnel and continue operating on surface streets.

Above ground, Route 50 runs primarily along Baltimore Avenue. It proceeds southwestward through West Philadelphia, making numerous local stops along Baltimore Avenue. The trolley terminates at the intersection of 49th Street and Baltimore Avenue.

Route 50 provides connections to numerous other SEPTA services, including Market-Frankford Line, Broad Street Line, Regional Rail lines, and various bus routes, both within the subway-surface stations and at street level along its route. It serves residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, educational institutions (including the University of Pennsylvania), and cultural attractions along its path.
