Rumer (musician)

Rumer (born Sarah Joyce, 3 June 1979) is a British singer-songwriter. Her musical style is often described as soul-influenced pop, drawing comparisons to artists like Karen Carpenter and Burt Bacharach.

Rumer's debut album, Seasons of My Soul, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. The album featured the hit singles "Slow" and "Aretha."

Prior to her solo career, Joyce performed under various names and in different musical projects. She adopted the stage name Rumer, inspired by the novelist Rumer Godden, to create a distinct artistic identity.

Her subsequent albums include Boys Don't Cry (2012), a collection of songs written by 1970s male songwriters, Into Colour (2014), featuring original material, and This Girl's in Love: A Bacharach and David Songbook (2016), a tribute to the songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
