Terror Squad (group)

Terror Squad was an American hip hop collective founded in 1993 in The Bronx, New York City. The group was spearheaded by rappers Fat Joe and Big Pun (who died in 2000).

The original lineup featured Fat Joe, Big Pun, Cuban Link, Triple Seis, and Prospect. Over time, the group's membership evolved. Remy Ma joined the Terror Squad later, becoming a prominent member and the only female rapper in the crew. Other notable members and affiliates included Tony Sunshine, Armageddon, and DJ Khaled (who played a significant role in promoting the group).

Terror Squad achieved mainstream success with their 1999 debut album, Terror Squad: The Album, and their subsequent hit singles, including "Whatcha Gon' Do?" and "Lean Back," the latter reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2004. "Lean Back" is arguably their most recognizable and commercially successful song.

The group's music is characterized by its aggressive, hard-hitting beats and lyrics focusing on street life, loyalty, and the "Bronx" experience. Big Pun's lyrical prowess and Fat Joe's leadership were integral to the group's identity and success.

Although Terror Squad experienced periods of inactivity and shifts in membership, their influence on hip hop, particularly within the Latin hip hop subgenre, remains significant. Various members have pursued successful solo careers after their time with the group.
