John Ryan (British politician)

John Ryan (born 28 February 1940) is a British politician and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He served as a Liberal Democrat MEP for the North East England constituency from 1999 to 2009.

Prior to his election to the European Parliament, Ryan worked in business and was involved in local politics. He was a Newcastle City Councillor and actively involved in Liberal Democrat party affairs in the North East region.

As an MEP, Ryan focused on issues such as regional development, energy policy, and transport. He served on several committees, including the Committee on Regional Development and the Committee on Transport and Tourism.
