Room 101 (Australian TV series)
Room 101 (Australian TV series) was an Australian television program based on the British series of the same name, which was itself inspired by the torture room in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. The Australian version featured celebrities nominating their pet hates, annoyances, and things they would like to consign to oblivion in Room 101.
The program was hosted by Paul McDermott. Guests would argue the case for their nominated items to be banished. McDermott, as the host, would then decide whether or not the nominated item was worthy of being consigned to Room 101.
Unlike some international versions, the Australian Room 101 did not typically show a visual representation of the nominated item being destroyed or banished. The decision was usually indicated by a verbal confirmation from McDermott.
The series aired on SBS One. Its run was relatively short-lived compared to the British version, spanning a limited number of seasons.
