Arases
Arases refers to a scientific collaboration using multiple satellites to study the Earth's radiation belts. Specifically, it refers to the Exploration of energization and Radiation in Geospace (ERG) project, led by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). The ERG satellite, nicknamed "Arase" after a rapid current in the sea, carries multiple instruments to observe particles and electromagnetic fields in the inner magnetosphere, aiming to understand the mechanisms behind the acceleration and loss of relativistic electrons in the Van Allen radiation belts during space storms. The name "Arases" therefore, implies the findings, data, or collective efforts derived from or related to the Arase satellite mission. The mission aims to uncover the fundamental processes governing the dynamic variations in the near-Earth space environment, which can impact satellite operations and space weather.
