Alan Baxter (actor)
Alan Baxter (March 19, 1908 – May 7, 1976) was an American actor known for his extensive work in film, television, and stage. He often played character roles, frequently portraying tough guys, villains, or authority figures.
Baxter began his acting career on the Broadway stage in the 1930s. He made his film debut in 1935 and continued to work steadily in movies throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Some of his notable film credits include Saboteur (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), The Set-Up (1949), and Judgment at Nuremberg (1961).
In addition to his film work, Baxter appeared in numerous television shows, including The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Bonanza, Perry Mason, and Gunsmoke. He remained active in television until his death in 1976.
Baxter was born in East Cleveland, Ohio. He was married to actress Barbara Williams. He died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 68.
