Raphael (band)

Raphael was a British rock band active in the early 1970s. The band was formed in 1971 and consisted of Terry Clark (vocals), Dave "Clem" Clempson (guitar), Dave Markee (bass), and Jerry Shirley (drums). Shirley was previously the drummer for Humble Pie.

Raphael released one self-titled album in 1974 on Island Records. The album featured a blues-rock sound with elements of funk and soul. Despite positive reviews, the album did not achieve significant commercial success, and the band subsequently dissolved.

Following the breakup of Raphael, Clempson rejoined Humble Pie and later worked with Colosseum II and Jack Bruce. Markee became a successful session musician, playing with artists such as Eric Clapton and Joan Armatrading. Shirley also continued his career as a drummer, working with various artists.
