Ponciau

Ponciau is a village and community in the county borough of Wrexham, Wales. It is located to the west of the town of Wrexham itself, and includes the villages of Rhosddu, Johnstown, and Pen-y-cae.

The name "Ponciau" is thought to derive from the Welsh word "pont" (bridge) and a personal name, possibly "Ciau" or a similar name.

Historically, the area was heavily involved in coal mining and quarrying. Remnants of this industrial past can still be seen in the landscape. Today, the community is largely residential, although some light industry and commercial activity are present.

Ponciau is governed by Wrexham County Borough Council and has its own community council. The area contains several schools, churches, and community facilities.
