Pleasure Principle (album)
Pleasure Principle is the second studio album by American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Mazarati, released in 1989 by Paisley Park Records.
The album is most notable for its connection to the artist formerly known as Prince. Mazarati was a funk/R&B band that Prince formed in 1985. While their self-titled debut album in 1986 had some success, the band line-up changed significantly before the recording of Pleasure Principle. The album features a sound that is heavily influenced by Prince's musical style and production techniques, typical of artists signed to Paisley Park Records.
Pleasure Principle features production and songwriting contributions from Prince and members of his musical circle. It explores themes of love, desire, and social commentary, consistent with the themes often present in Prince's work. The album did not achieve the same commercial success as Mazarati's debut and is considered a more niche release within the Paisley Park discography. Despite not being a major commercial hit, Pleasure Principle remains of interest to fans of Prince due to its sonic similarities and involvement of Paisley Park personnel.
