Bunefer

Bunefer (also transliterated as Bunnefer) was an ancient Egyptian noblewoman who lived during the Fourth Dynasty, around the reign of King Shepseskaf (c. 2510–2505 BC). Her primary claim to historical significance comes from her depiction in her intact tomb discovered at Giza.

Bunefer served as a priestess of Hathor and is believed to have held other titles associated with religious or administrative duties within the royal court. The artifacts found in her tomb, including pottery and personal items, provide valuable insights into the daily life and funerary practices of elite women during this period of the Old Kingdom.

While the specifics of her life remain somewhat obscure due to the limited textual evidence available, the well-preserved nature of her tomb allows Egyptologists to glean important information about the social and religious roles of women in ancient Egyptian society and the burial customs practiced during the Fourth Dynasty. Her tomb is located in the Central Field at Giza. Further research and analysis of the contents of her tomb continue to shed light on her life and the era in which she lived.
