Petronius Probinus (consul 341)
Petronius Probinus was a Roman aristocrat and politician of the 4th century AD. He served as Roman Consul in the year 341 AD, alongside Emperor Constantius II. Probinus belonged to a prominent and wealthy Roman family, the Petronii Probini. His consulship is one of the few details securely known about his life. Genealogical reconstruction suggests he was likely the father of Sextus Petronius Probus, who was himself a powerful figure in the later 4th century. The Chronograph of 354 mentions his consulship, providing a primary source attestation. Further information about his career and personal life is scarce, with surviving evidence primarily concerning his descendants and their influence.
