Patrick Ford (boxer)

Patrick Ford (September 1, 1955 – November 13, 2011) was a Guyanese professional boxer who competed in the 1970s and 1980s. Ford is best known for challenging Salvador Sánchez for the WBC Featherweight title in 1980, a fight he lost by technical knockout in the fifth round.

Ford represented Guyana at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, losing in the first round of the light welterweight division to Hans-Henrik Palm.

As a professional, Ford turned pro in 1977 and quickly rose through the ranks, earning his title shot against Sánchez after a string of impressive victories. Following his loss to Sánchez, Ford continued to fight, but was unable to reach the same heights. He retired from boxing in 1984.
