Washington Nationals (Union Association)
The Washington Nationals were a professional baseball team that played in the Union Association for only one season, 1884. The Union Association was a short-lived major league that is often considered a major league by some baseball historians but not by others. The Nationals finished the season with a record of 12 wins and 51 losses, placing them last in the league. Their home games were played at League Park in Washington, D.C. Little information is readily available about the team's players or management compared to other, more established teams of the era. After their single season, the team folded along with several other Union Association clubs. They are not related to the later Washington Nationals franchise that originated as the Montreal Expos.
