Glasgow Camlachie was a constituency of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1885 to 1950. It was located in the city of Glasgow, Scotland.

Creation and Boundaries

The constituency was created in 1885 under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, primarily from the Glasgow constituency. It was one of seven new single-member constituencies carved out of the pre-existing larger constituency to better represent the expanding population of the city. Camlachie was an industrial area in the East End of Glasgow, and the constituency reflected this. The boundaries shifted slightly during its existence, but it remained centered on the Camlachie area.

Political Character

Glasgow Camlachie was generally considered a working-class constituency with a strong Labour leaning. However, it experienced periods of Conservative and Unionist representation, particularly during times of national political shifts.
