Outside (Tapes n' Tapes album)

Outside is the second and final studio album by the American indie rock band Tapes 'n Tapes. It was released on January 22, 2008, on XL Recordings. The album marked a departure from the band's earlier lo-fi sound, showcasing a more polished and produced aesthetic. While some critics appreciated the band's willingness to experiment, others felt that the album lacked the raw energy and charm of their debut, The Loon.

The album features 11 tracks and was produced by Dave Fridmann, known for his work with bands such as The Flaming Lips and MGMT. Outside received mixed reviews upon its release, with critics often comparing it unfavorably to the band's previous work. Some common criticisms included the perceived over-production and a lack of distinctive songwriting. Despite the mixed critical reception, the album charted in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Tracks from Outside include "Hang Them All," "Anvil," and "Omaha." The album failed to achieve the same level of commercial success as The Loon. Shortly after the release of Outside, the band went on hiatus before eventually disbanding in 2011.
