HVK Gusar

HVK Gusar is a Russian assault rifle developed by the Kovrov Mechanical Plant (KMZ). It is chambered in 5.45x39mm and is considered a potential replacement for the AK-74 series in Russian military service.

Development began in the late 2000s. The Gusar incorporates features intended to improve accuracy, ergonomics, and modularity compared to older AK-pattern rifles. Key improvements include a redesigned gas system, a free-floating barrel, and a Picatinny rail system for mounting optics and accessories. The rifle also features adjustable stocks and improved pistol grips for better shooter comfort.

The HVK Gusar has been tested and evaluated by the Russian military, but it has not yet been officially adopted as a standard-issue rifle. Information regarding production numbers and widespread deployment remains limited.
