Obed Hale

Obed Hale (1797-1873) was an American politician and lawyer from New Hampshire. He served as a U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 3rd congressional district from 1839 to 1843.

Born in Weare, New Hampshire, Hale graduated from Dartmouth College in 1818 and was admitted to the bar in 1821. He began his legal practice in Wakefield, New Hampshire, and later moved to Ossipee.

Hale was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh Congresses. During his time in Congress, he served on the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of War. After leaving Congress, he resumed his legal practice and was also involved in local politics. He served as a member of the New Hampshire State Senate from 1846 to 1847.

Obed Hale died in Ossipee, New Hampshire, and is buried in the town's Grant Hill Cemetery.
