Nikon FG

The Nikon FG is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera manufactured by Nikon from 1982 to 1984. It was part of Nikon's compact "FG" series, designed to offer a blend of automation and manual control to appeal to a broad range of photographers, from beginners to more experienced users.

The FG offered four exposure modes: Programmed Auto (P), Aperture-Priority Auto (A), Manual (M), and a Programmed TTL flash mode. In Programmed Auto, the camera automatically selected both the aperture and shutter speed. Aperture-Priority allowed the user to set the aperture, and the camera would automatically choose the corresponding shutter speed. Manual mode gave the photographer complete control over both aperture and shutter speed.

The camera used a silicon photodiode for light metering, providing accurate exposure readings. It supported lenses with the Nikon AI-S (Automatic Indexing Shutter) mount.

The Nikon FG was known for its relatively compact size and lightweight construction compared to other Nikon SLRs of the time. It was a popular choice for amateur photographers and those looking for a travel-friendly camera. It's shutter speed ranged from 1 second to 1/1000th of a second in automatic and manual modes, and up to 8 seconds in aperture-priority automatic mode.
