Nick Evans (baseball)
Nick Evans (born August 6, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder and first baseman. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Professional Career
Evans was drafted by the New York Mets in the 5th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball draft. He worked his way through the Mets' minor league system, developing a reputation as a power hitter.
He made his MLB debut with the Mets on May 12, 2008. He played with the Mets from 2008 to 2012, primarily as a corner outfielder and first baseman, occasionally showing flashes of power. However, he struggled with consistency and injuries.
In 2014, Evans signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He played briefly for them before being released.
Post-Playing Career
Following his playing career, Evans transitioned into coaching. He has served as a hitting coach in various minor league systems.
