National Democratic Party (Slovenia)

The National Democratic Party (Slovene: Narodna demokratska stranka, NDS) was a liberal political party active in Slovenia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, primarily within the Austro-Hungarian Empire and later in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It emerged as a significant force in Slovene political life, advocating for greater autonomy for the Slovene lands within Austria-Hungary and later for the rights of Slovenes within Yugoslavia.

The party was founded in 1890, arising from earlier Slovene liberal movements. Key figures associated with the National Democratic Party included Ivan Tavčar and Ivan Hribar.
