N10 (South Africa)
The N10 is a national route in South Africa that connects the N9 at Middelburg, Eastern Cape to the N14 at Upington, Northern Cape. It provides a mostly north-south route through the arid interior of the country.
The route passes through or near the following towns and settlements (from south to north): Middelburg, Colesberg, Britstown, Prieska, and Upington.
The N10 is primarily a two-lane single carriageway road throughout its length. Maintenance and upgrades are ongoing, but it remains a significant route for connecting smaller agricultural towns and facilitating transport across the region. The road is important for the transportation of goods, particularly agricultural produce, and links the Eastern Cape to the Northern Cape, providing access to the N14 which leads westward towards Namibia and the West Coast.
Traffic volume on the N10 varies depending on the section, with higher volumes near larger towns. Road safety is a concern, particularly during peak travel periods and in areas with high pedestrian or animal activity.
