Moto X (2nd generation)

The Moto X (2nd generation), also known as the Moto X (2014), is an Android smartphone developed and manufactured by Motorola Mobility. It was released in September 2014 as the successor to the original Moto X. The device features a 5.2-inch AMOLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and 2GB of RAM. It offered improvements in processing power, screen size, and camera resolution compared to its predecessor.

Key features of the Moto X (2nd generation) included its customizable design options through Moto Maker, which allowed users to select different back materials (including wood and leather), accent colors, and engraving options. The phone also featured "always-on" voice control, allowing users to activate Google Assistant without touching the phone.

The Moto X (2nd generation) ran on a near-stock version of Android and received software updates from Motorola. It was initially available with Android 4.4.4 KitKat and was later updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The phone was generally well-received by critics, who praised its design, performance, and near-stock Android experience. However, some criticisms were leveled at its battery life and camera performance, which were seen as areas for improvement.

The Moto X (2nd generation) was succeeded by the Moto X Style (also known as Moto X Pure Edition) in 2015.
